About the Item
A beautiful honey color German oak dresser with two doors and three drawers.
The cupboard was made in Germany in the Moselle region in circa 1780. The top has a bullnose profile and is joined to the base by the use of wooden pens. It has sweeping coffered corner bevels adorned with Classic carved ornaments like C-scrolls, acanthus, and shell motif. These motifs are repeated on both the doors and drawer fronts. The three drawers are made in solid oak and have copper drawer pull rings. Both doors are fitted with an oval keyplate and working locks with a key. The exterior was finished with lacquer and wax and has a warm honey color with a rich patina. The interior of the piece is without finish and shows the dark bare wood and reveals its high age.
Condition details: The piece was checked and cleaned in our atelier. Some older repairs were carried out decently. Both locks and keys were replaced a few decades ago. A fresh protective wax coat was applied to protect and enhance the rich and deep patina.
