Plant Care
Blue Rug Juniper is exceptionally low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established. This hardy plant requires minimal pruning and is resistant to most pests and diseases. Regular watering during the first growing season helps establish a deep root system. Apply a layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress weed growth.
Planting Instructions
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same level as it did in the container. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and add a 2-inch layer of mulch around the plant, keeping it away from the stem. Space plants 4-6 feet apart to allow for mature spread.
For optimal growth, plant in spring or fall when temperatures are moderate. Blue Rug Juniper adapts well to various soil conditions but thrives in well-draining locations. While the plant tolerates partial shade, full sun exposure produces the best blue coloration and densest growth. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or heavy clay soil.
