About the Item
In its heyday, a thousand workers worked at Verrerie Vianne. Once the flagship of the French glass industry, the company began in 1920 when the Laubenheimer family started it to produce bottles and glasses for their beers. That lasted about ten years. The company then shifted its focus to cutting glass and crystal for decorative purposes. With that new goal, the glassworks became an influential and trend-setting force in French glass design and held that position for several decades. Foreign competition and rising costs, however, caused Verrerie Vianne to shutter in 2009. These 1970’s egg shaped milk glass table lamps are a beautiful example of late period Vianne and are in original condition with some age appropriate wear.
