About the Item

Decorate a powder room or entryway with this elegant antique gilt painted mirror! Crafted in France, circa 1870, the ornate pierced pediment features a swirling foliate acanthus leaf cartouche, flanked with leaf and floral decor on both sides; the molded frame with extended corners is further embellished with scroll foliage motifs consistent with the decorative richness of the Rococo aesthetic. The Louis XVI style mirror is dressed with the original encased mercury glass plate and original wood backing. The rectangular wall mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautiful and rich parcel gold leaf painted finish. New wire and hooks in the back for easy installation. Versatile, the wall decor could also be placed over a console in an entry, or in a living room over a mantel. Weight 29 pounds.
