About the Item
A lovely antique English iron clock dial dating from circa 1880. Reclaimed from the workshop of a crumbling works by our buyer, it bears the scars of a hard life. Beautifully patinated with an ancient craquelure, paint loss and rust. The fine, once blued steel hands have succumbed to many years of rust.
Originally a mechanical fusee movement, this was damaged and mostly missing. Our clockmaker has skilfully fitted a quartz battery movement for ease and reliability, while retaining the beautiful original hands, hand washer and winding shaft.
