Field artillery theodolite by Srb Stys of Prague, signed, 1930s.
Spectacular precision optical instrument of bronze, brass and steel utilized by the Czech military for artillery surveying. In 1919, Jaroslav Srb and Josef Stys founded a plant of fine mechanics and optics which manufactured a comprehensive range of geodetic tools and instruments largely focused on military contracts. In 1921, the Department of Defense designated Srb Stys to produce theodolites for the field.
