About the Item
This striking, large mirror was produced by Glas Mster in Markaryd, Sweden, in the late 1960s.
This generously sized rectangular mirror can be placed as floor mirror and can also be installed as a wall mirror (hanging wire is installed on the reverse).
The sculptural, carved frame is executed in solid pine wood, with a naturally developed patina over time. The frame is a great combination of the more rustic, cottage aesthetic of the Swedish Modern era and the more expressive, brutalist carved style of the wood.
The mirror is in good original condition, the wood with a natural patina and minor wear consistent with age. The mirror glass in overall good condition with 2 small light scratches.
Swedish Modern designers working in the same era/style include Axel Einar Hjorth, Carl Malmsten, Gran Malmvall and Roland Wilhelmsson.Creator: AB Markaryd (Maker)Dimensions: Height: 54.34 in (138 cm)Width: 37.01 in (94 cm)Depth: 3.15 in (8 cm)Style: Scandinavian Modern (Of the Period)Materials and Techniques: Mirror,PinePlace of Origin: SwedenPeriod: 1960-1969Date of Manufacture: 1960sCondition: GoodWear consistent with age and use.Seller Location: The Hague, NLReference Number: 1stDibs: LU1803337353012
