About the Item
Stunning example of the iconic industrial wall clock by Smiths English Clock Systems. c.1937
The larger size, combined with the original spaded hands make it a very scarce find. The 18″ dial has a wonderful patina, surrounded by a deep black steel casing. Rewired and running on a replacement 240v motor.
Smiths English Clock Systems Ltd entered the domestic clock market in 1931 with the earliest known examples marked with Synchronous Electrics Clocks Ltd. In 1937, the trade name Sectric was adopted and appeared on many clocks from this point.
